165th Street Mall Concert Series
The 165th Street Mall Improvement Association was created to develop the 165th Street Mall into a shopping destination by providing supplemental services designed to enhance the district. These supplemental services include sanitation, promotional, marketing, maintenance and any additional services, which assists the Association in achieving this goal.

The 165th Street Mall, located in the heart of Jamaica, Queens, is a shopping destination in New York City. This unique pedestrian mall, which extends along 165th Street from Jamaica Avenue to 89th Avenue, attracts a mixed crowd of local residents, professionals, students and visitors who frequent the over 160 stores. The shopping district offers a large variety of family apparel, footwear, eyewear, photography services, a food court and so much more.
The Mall is also home to the Jamaica Coliseum Mall, one of New York's largest and most popular jewelry exchanges and the Bus Terminal, a Queen's transportation hub.
The 165th Street Mall Improvement Association is one of the oldest Special Assessment District's (SAD) in New York City. Established in 1978, the organization was designed to enhance downtown Jamaica by developing the 165th Street Mall into a shopping hub that attracts shoppers from throughout the City.
What is a Special Assessment District or SAD?
Created by New York State, a SAD is a geographic area which pulls resources together to provide additional and district specific services to a defined area. many of the supplemental services which SAD's provide include street cleaning, capital improvements, security and promotional activities. All of the services provided by a SAD are supplemental to those already provided by New York State. SADs became Business Improvement Districts (BID) when the City of New York began overseeing the program.
